Thank you Peninsula Celebrations Society for all the great work you do for our community. Sidney is a wonderful place to raise a young family, largely do to the amazing community spirit brought on by the family events you carry out for all to enjoy.
We will once again be attending your fun-filled Christmas activities. May I please give my opinion that the parade date this year is too early. Previously for several years the parade and sailpast were on the first weekend of December which is a great way to kick off the festive month. Then it crept back to the last weekend in November. Now it’s even earlier. I can see that you are trying to support the local businesses and jumpstart the shopping and spending in the Sidney stores and restaurants. But please consider the children who are attending the parade. Mid November is awfully early for a Santa sighting.
Once again, we LOVE the event and are grateful that we have a Santa Parade at all. I hope others will share and voice their opinions on the early date of the parade, and perhaps it will be reconsidered next year.
Thank you.

I would like to express my disappointment with the decision to change the celebrations to the 20th of November, especially at such a late date. My wife and I have been attending the celebration for the past 4 years, travelling from Calgary to Sidney to spend a few days and enjoy the festivities. In keeping with past years, we have purchased airline tickets that would have enabled us to attend the festivities on the 27th of November. As we arrive on the 22nd, obviously we will miss the celebration. I doubt we are the only tourists who will be disenchanted with the late change in plans .
Colour us disappointed

I’m thrilled that the date is November 20th! Now we can attend all the parades rather than having to choose between one or the other. In my opinion there is always way too much going on in December anyway and 4 weeks before Christmas isn’t too early and may help remind people of that. Respectfully Yours, A smiling mother!

Thank you Susan, Jim, J Mitchell, and L Sandner for your comments. We appreciate the positive feed back.
It was a tough choice to move Sidney Sparkles up to November 20th but with all the other festivities happening in our community it was in the best interest of the event. Jim we hope to see you at the Saanichton Community Christmas coming up in December (soon to be posted on our web site).
All the best.
