		<description>[...] Build a Quick Boat Contest: This Sidney-based event has been running for 25 years and this is the first I&#8217;ve heard of it. I&#8217;m no aspiring mariner, but it sounds like a hoot. Starting at noon in Sidney&#8217;s Beacon Park, registered entrants beginning hammering together the vessels they will launch at 4:45 pm. No power or air tools are allowed, and  each three-person team has just $100 worth of materials supplied by contest sponsor Slegg Lumber. Design work prior to the contest is allowed, so expect to see some delightful watercraft emerge in this family-friendly event.
